"I'm not a healer and I'm not a doctor…. I’m just a mechanic." ~ Lauren Berry

My life in words....

Kim Nixon
LMT,
E-RYT 500, YACEP
My passion for teaching yoga and doing bodywork stems from my own personal experience with the healing benefits. I see yoga and bodywork as “powerful medicine.”  It's been my medicine. Maybe it could be yours, too.

I'm passionate about sharing the healing benefits of gentle movement, meditation, breathwork, and therapeutic bodywork. I'm a Licensed Massage Therapist and 500-hr Registered Yoga Teacher. I've been practicing yoga since 2006, doing bodywork since 2009, and teaching yoga since 2012.  The primary focus of my practice is to provide self care tools to assist students and clients in managing stress, reducing pain, and strengthening their bodies. As both a massage therapist and yoga teacher, I think of yoga as the "active version of massage."

I formerly managed The River Studio in Hallowell prior to the pandemic. I taught weekly yoga classes and events there for years. I currently teach live, weekly classes at Downtown Yoga & Healing Arts in Augusta. I also teach specialty classes through Maine General, summer classes on the Gardiner Waterfront, and offer a variety of private classes and workshops. The pandemic provided the opportunity for me to overhaul my business model. In addition to my live class offerings, I now have my own "virtual" yoga studio -- offering weekly live-streaming yoga classes and an "on demand" video library. I believe that yoga is for EVERY body and you will see that reflected in my teaching style. Join me for class anytime... from wherever you are.
♥

I'm as passionate a student of yoga as I am a teacher. I have more that 2000 teaching hours and a combined total of more that 1800 training hours in yoga, massage, energy medicine, and intuition studies. In addition to my 200- and 500-hour yoga certifications, I have over 250 hours of specialized training in Yin Yoga. I also have specialty certifications in Prenatal Yoga, Pranayama (breathwork), Meditation, Ayurvedic Yoga, Five-Element Yoga®, CranioSacral Therapy, Thai Massage, Polarity, and I'm a Master level practitioner in both Reiki and Integrated Energy Therapy® (IET.) My current plans include ongoing study in Yin Yoga, deepening my own practice, and ultimately, creating a 30-Hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training to share my training and experience with other teachers. ♥

Self care is the most nurturing and important thing we can do for ourselves. Please join me for a class or call me to schedule a therapeutic massage session, a CranioSacral Therapy session, a private yoga class, or a group self care presentation. Namaste.
